The first 100 Volkswagen Chattanooga production team members, all local Hamilton County residents, are completing intensive training in efficient production and processes to prepare for positions in quality assurance, and the assembly, body and paint shops at the new American facility. Volkswagen Group of America celebrated the milestone gathering the group for a photo to commemorate the occasion.

Volkswagen in Chattanooga currently employs over 1,000 people at the energy-saving plant where a new midsize sedan specially designed for the North American market begins production in 2011. The plant will eventually employ more than 2,000 and is expected to result in as many as 9,500 indirect employees over time.

One of Volkswagen’s newest dealerships opened its doors in December 2009 in the Dallas suburb of McKinney. On May 12, 2010, they had their official grand opening celebration. The dealership currently employs approximately 40 individuals from the north Dallas area.
