Growing Jobs

Success made in hometown America.

At Volkswagen Group of America we strive for the exceptional. And our goal is simple: To inspire passion in one million new Volkswagen and Audi drivers each year in the United States by 2018.

That’s why we are investing $4 billion, even in a tough economy, to expand our U.S. operations. We are opening a new assembly plant in Tennessee and working even harder from coast to coast at all of our corporate, subsidiary and dealer locations.

It’s really all about the American dream — turning challenges into opportunities with hard work and good people.

The first 100 Volkswagen Chattanooga production team members, all local Hamilton County residents, are completing intensive training in efficient production and processes to prepare for positions in quality assurance, and the assembly, body and paint shops at the new American facility. Volkswagen Group of America celebrated the milestone gathering the group for a photo to commemorate the occasion.

Volkswagen in Chattanooga currently employs over 1,000 people at the energy-saving plant where a new midsize sedan specially designed for the North American market begins production in 2011. The plant will eventually employ more than 2,000 and is expected to result in as many as 9,500 indirect employees over time.

According to independent studies, Volkswagen Group of America’s $1 billion investment in the Chattanooga economy will generate $12 billion in income growth
