Fifty members of Volkswagen Group of America’s (VWGoA) Parts Logistics team recently spent two days giving a local senior citizen facility a much-needed facelift. Team members made several improvements to the interior and exterior of the Meadow Creek Senior Facility on June 8th and 9th in Auburn Hills, Mich., including washing windows, painting, lawn maintenance and grounds cleanup.
Meadow Creek is a non-profit, low-income senior housing facility located just a few miles from VWGoA in Auburn Hills.
“Giving back to the local community and doing so as a team is important to Parts Logistics,” said Mary Jo Farley, RED Order Specialist. “It gives the entire team an opportunity to participate, and it provides a sense of team accomplishment as well as an opportunity to interact with team members you may not deal with daily.”
Parts Logistics organizes two volunteer-based teambuilding events annually. Past volunteer events the team has participated in include, the Clinton River Trail clean up, Lighthouse of Oakland County and O.A.T.S (Offering Alternative Therapy with Smiles).
The most recent cosmetic improvements made by the team at Meadow Creek Senior Facility came about after the Parts Logistics Team Building Committee discussed with the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce about organizations that were in need of assistance.
“The team was very happy to assist in making improvements at Meadow Creek,” said Adam Randall, Parts Operations Support Analyst. “Improvements such as these provide a boost to the facility and the community as a whole. We were happy to be a part of this positive effort.”
