The Thousand Oaks Library, in Thousand Oaks, Calif., will now offer more than just books in paperback or hardback. Birgit Whale, Administrative Assistant/Project Specialist IUP, VWGoA, acting on behalf of the VWGoA Diversity Committee members at Westlake Village, recently presented the library with a $5,000 check, which the library will put towards creating its new electronic book collection. As a result, those who own Kindles, NOOKs, iPads, etc. will be able to visit the Thousand Oaks Library and peruse its electronic book selections to upload directly to their electronic devices.
“I was honored to be able to present the library with a $5,000 donation on behalf of Volkswagen Group of America,” said Whale. “We at VWGoA are committed to giving back to our local communities. The donation to the Thousand Oaks Library is a perfect example of this commitment.”
The check was presented in front of the Thousand Oaks City Council to both Mayor Andrew Fox and Thousand Oaks Library Director Stephen Brodgen. In years past, the Diversity Committee has held an annual book drive where all donations were given to the Thousand Oaks Library, and currently has plans to support the library as part of the company’s Earth Day outreach activity.
