My name is Steve Kuzemchak. As you may have already guessed, I work for the Volkswagen Group of America Graduate Program. Since this is my first blog post, I’d like to introduce myself and provide a little background information for you.
In May, I graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) with my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. I also completed a minor in Leadership and Social Change and lived in the Residential Leadership Community as a freshman. (I swear it wasn’t because that was the only dorm with AC… well, at least that’s not entirely why).
The best experience I had at Virginia Tech was the time I spent as a Sports Marketing Intern with the University Athletic Department. I was immediately granted major responsibilities, like coordinating the NFL Flashback program, where I contacted and booked former Hokies in the NFL to come back to campus for recognition at every home football game. I also developed comprehensive marketing plans for the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams and the Women’s Tennis team (setting a promotional schedule, advertising through local media and managing the team’s marketing and promotions budget). Needless to say, I am a huge Virginia Tech sports fan and can’t wait for football season to start back up. During my free time, I also enjoy running, traveling and going to concerts.
As a Marketing Analyst for the Graduate Program, over the next two years I will have the opportunity to work with six different groups within the Marketing Department. My first rotation is with Retail Marketing. The next time you hear from me, I will let you know exactly what kind of projects I am working on as well as an exciting trip I have coming up!
