Volkswagen Group of America continued growing its U.S. presence by becoming a permanent resident of the “Golden State.” Last week, VWGoA celebrated not one, but two groundbreakings, including the New Lab for Emissions Testing and Powertrain Development in Oxnard, Calif. and the 30,000-square-foot dealership in downtown Walnut Creek, Calif.
The $25 million lab will replace the existing facility in Westlake Village and will also serve as a customer service support center for Bugatti dealers in North and South America.
“We are investing heavily in the U.S. market, where our growth strategy centers on making German engineering and technology widely accessible to drivers,” said Matthias Barke, Volkswagen Group of America Emissions Laboratory and Facility Manager.
The Walnut Creek dealership is being built to accommodate growing sales and provide customers an increased portfolio of amenities. The new facility will triple the size of their existing facility. The new dealership will showcase Volkswagen’s new White Frame Facility image design. With its clear, simple shape, the new design is key to Volkswagen’s visual identity and will be incorporated in all the elements of the dealership.
“Two of Volkswagen’s major objectives are excellent customer service and a distinctive brand presence,” said Werner Mersch, Volkswagen’s Western Region Director. “This new facility marries both of those concepts by providing customers a vast array of top-notch services in a state-of-the-art facility that touts Volkswagen’s new look.”
